Strategies for getting the perfect Charleston area vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Charleston area area. To get the largest rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Charleston area restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking your Charleston area rental:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. The Mary Scott Suite In the Heart of Charleston has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you long to visit, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Tips for your stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
