How to get the best Charleston vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Charleston. To get the best vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Charleston area attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
