How to get the best Charleston rental experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the best vacation home:

  • First, have your family commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Experience Folly Life & Water Views\nQuiet, Clean, Beach & Downtown Charleston. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area attraction you simply love, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
