Booking the best Charleston rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Charleston area restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Make a plan and pick a perfectrental:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Explore Downtown King St - 12 Bedrooms\/7.5 Baths! has 12 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a certain Charleston area attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
