Tips for getting the best Charleston area vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Charleston. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to select the best vacation rental in Charleston:
- Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Explore Downtown King St - 12 Bedrooms\/7.5 Baths! has 12 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
