How to find the best Charleston vacation home experience:
When to visit Charleston & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Charleston. Booking in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and pick your prefect Charleston area rental home:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Downtown 2 bedroom, 2 bath, pet friendly apartment ~ Honey Bee has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Have a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
