Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer is high season in Charleston. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing the best rental in the Charleston area area:
- Select vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Harleston House - A
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you book the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your invoice.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
