Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Charleston area rental home:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Finding the best rental in the Charleston area area:
- Choose your dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Bright and Spacious Downtown Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
During your stay:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
