How to find the best Charleston vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Choose your vacation dates and budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. King 583 - Charleston - Studio Deluxe has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
