Rental booking tips and tricks:
Get the most from your budget:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose the best vacation rental in the Charleston area area:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Coastal Vibes 5mins to DT w\/ King Bed + Ping Pong! has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Charleston area destination you simply love, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
