Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Booking in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Finding the perfect vacation home in the Charleston area area:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Coastal Vibes 5mins to DT w\/ King Bed + Ping Pong! has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If there's a specific Charleston area beach you crave, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
Tips for a great stay:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
