How to book the best vacation property experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To book the largest rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing the right Charleston area vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your family commit to trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Coastal Vibes 5mins to DT w\/ King Bed + Ping Pong! has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you book the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, record any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
